Havering
You can recycle your Christmas Tree in the following ways:
- Take it to Gerpins Lane Reuse and Recycling Centre on any date.
- Take it to Gidea Park Sports Ground, Main Road, Romford on Saturday 7th January 2012, 10am - 2pm only.
- If you are subscribed to the garden waste collection service, you can put your tree in your green wheeled bin - please cut it to fit and ensure the lid closes (for health and safety reasons.
Please remove lights/decorations and stands.
Newham
To recycle your Christmas tree in Newham, please book a free garden waste collection during the first two weeks of January by visiting www.newham.gov.uk and clicking 'Apply for it'. You will need to leave your tree in your front garden ready for collection, and make sure you have taken off all of the lights and decorations. Alternatively you can also take your Christmas tree to the Jenkins Lane Reuse & Recycling Centre, IG11 0AD.
Redbridge
To book a collection for your real Christmas tree please call the Customer Contact Centre on 0208 554 5000. We will endeavor to collect your Christmas tree, and any other booked garden waste within 10 working days. Your Christmas tree will be sent to be composted.
Christmas trees can also be taken to Chigwell Road Reuse and Recycling Centre.
Tower Hamlets
Last year around 500 Christmas trees were collected for recycling - they started a whole new life as compost.
To recycle a Christmas tree, residents in blocks of flats should contact their housing manager to find out about local arrangements. Those living in houses can leave their trees on the boundary of their property on their garden waste / food waste recycling day.
Christmas tree collections will take place from 2 January up until 20 January. Only real Christmas trees can be recycled and pots, soil and decorations should be removed as these items cannot be composted
Waltham Forest
Put your tree next to your brown food and garden waste bin or somewhere easily visible and accessible in your front garden. Your tree will be collected with the gardening and food recycling collection. Remove all lights and decorations please. No plastic trees please. For your collection day call 020 8496 3000.
