Recycle for London

Freecycle

FreecycleFreecycle is a not-for-profit movement that facilitates reuse of unwanted items. It operates through local groups which individuals and non-profit organisations can join free of charge, by signing up to an email list. They then receive email notifications of items being offered or sought. The main rule is that everything ‘posted’ to the group – offered or wanted – must be free. Most groups ask that a member’s first posting to the group is to offer something. Groups are run by local volunteer moderators.

There are 39 Freecycle groups operating in London, with a total of over 320,000 members. The sizes of the London groups range from 1,500 members up to 20,000. To find your nearest Freecycle group, go to the Freecycle website.

All local groups are part of the worldwide Freecycle Network, ‘a nonprofit organization and a movement of people interested in keeping good stuff out of landfills'.
