Recycle for London

Cardboard

Cardboard

Most cardboard boxes and other cardboard packaging can be recycled, but not with papers such as newspapers and magazines.

Cardboard that has been used for food storage, eg pizza boxes, can’t be recycled as this will 'contaminate' the other cardboard being recycled.

How to recycle cardboard

Cardboard can be recycled at many of London’s Reuse and Recycling Centres. Some boroughs also collect cardboard from homes.

Remove all plastic/polystyrene packaging from inside any cardboard packaging.

Remember to flatten all cardboard boxes before putting them in the collection container as big boxes are difficult to collect and take up lots of space in the collection vehicles.

One tonne of recycled paper saves 17 trees and 7,000 gallons of water.
