Kitchen and green garden waste
Green waste from your garden and vegetable food waste from your kitchen can easily be composted, which is the best way to recycle/reuse this material.
If you have a garden, you can make compost at home and use it to improve the soil and feed plants in your garden - see our guide to composting.
If you don't have a garden, your local council may have a scheme for collecting kitchen food waste and composting it centrally - then your local parks can benefit from the compost produced.
Things that can be composted include:
Fruit and vegetable scraps
Tea bags and coffee grounds
Old flowers and bedding plants
Hedge clippings and grass cuttings
Egg boxes and egg shells
Cardboard and newspaper in small quantities
Leaves in small quantities
