Oil

Many boroughs now have facilities for safe disposal of two types of oil: motor oil and cooking oil.

Motor oil

Motor oil, also known as engine oil, can be recycled at most Reuse and Recycling Centres or via kerbside collections in some boroughs. Don't pour motor oil down drains as it causes serious water pollution

Cooking oil

Some Reuse and Recycling Centres are able to take cooking oil for recycling. Don't put cooking oil down your sink or in your drains as it will cause blockages. If you can't recycle it, seal it in a non-recyclable container or pour into a paper pouch and put it out with your normal rubbish.
