Recycling in Bromley - an overview
Recycling collections from home
Bromley collect recycleables from your home on a fortnightly basis. This is a compulsory recycling service. They provide black boxes to recycle paper and card, and green boxes to recycle glass, all plastic containers including plastic bottles, food trays, yoghurt pots, margarine and ice-cream containers. Please do not put plastic film or bags, toys, polystyrene or electrical items in your box. tins and cans and aluminium foil. Please put your recycling out for collection by 7am on your collection day.
If you live in a flat Bromley collect paper and glass but have plans to extend the service to include plastic bottles and cans. Large recycling bins are provided in the communal bin area.

Kitchen food waste collections
Bromley continue to trial their weekly kitchen waste collection scheme for approximately 4,500 properties across the borough. Bromley provide residents in the scheme with a kitchen waste recycling bin which is collected weekly.
You can put the following into your bin:
Fruit and vegetables (including peelings)
Tea bags and coffee grounds
Meat and fish
Dairy products and eggshells
Bones
Cooked and uncooked food
Small amounts of paper to line your caddy
Leftover food (from your fridge and off your plate)
Small amounts of garden waste
Bread, pasta, cereal and rice
Please DO NOT put these items in your bin:
Plastic film and food wrappings
Disposable nappies
Pet waste

Green garden waste collections
Bromley provide a fortnightly collection service for green garden waste. Bromley charge £1 per sack collected and each sack put out for collection must have the council a sticker on it.
You can put the following into your sack:
Grass cuttings
Leaves
Prunings
Hedge trimmings
Please DO NOT put these items in your sack:
Rubble
Soil
Food or household waste
Plastic and flower pots
On your collection day please ensure each bag has a sticker on it and it is placed at the front edge of your property by 7am.

Special collections
If you have a piece of furniture, a fridge, cooker or similar item which is still in good condition check out the Reuse page to see if someone else can give it a home.
