Recycling collections from home

Hounslow collects recycleables from your home on a weekly basis. Residents are provided with a green box and you can recycle paper, card, glass bottles and jars, cans, aluminium foil, food and drink cartons, mixed plastics, textiles, shoes, engine oil, car and household batteries.

Kitchen food waste collections

Hounslow now offers its residents a kitchen food waste collection service. They provide householders with a kitchen waste caddy for all your food scraps – cooked and raw and this will be collected on the same day as your other recycling.

Green garden waste collections

If you cannot compost at home Hounslow offer a free green waste collection service to all its residents. They provide each household with two green bags for the collection of your green waste. Sacks are collected on the same day as your other recycling, but every other week.

You can put the following into your sack:

• grass cuttings

• leaves

• hedge trimmings

• flowers and weeds

• twigs and small branches

Local street recycling banks

Houslow also have a number of street recycling banks for cans, glass, paper. Some also take shoes and textiles, plastics and drinks cartons. To find out where you nearest street recycling bank is and what you can recycle there please visit: Hounslow street recycling banks.

Special collections

If you have a piece of furniture, a fridge, cooker or similar item which is still in good condition check out the Reuse page to see if someone else can give it a home.
