Recycling collections from home

Lewisham collects recycleables from your home on a weekly basis. They provoide residents with a green box or a green wheelie bin ands you can recycle paper, cardboard, glass bottles and jars, tins and cans and plastic bottles. Kitchen food waste collections

Lewisham do not currently offer a kitchen waste collection service to its residents. Please contact them directly for further information on when this service might become available.

Green garden waste collections

If you cannot compost at home Lewisham offer a green garden waste collection service to all its residents. Collection is by appointment and a small charge will be made. You can but garden waste sacks from the council. The sacks come in rolls of 10 and cost £10 per roll (cash payments only).

You can put the following into your sack:

• flowers and plants

• grass clippings

• hedge trimmings

• leaves

• twigs and branches up to four inches in diameter.

Please DO NOT put these items in your sack:

• kitchen waste

• vegetable peelings

• soil

• turf

• stones

• Japanese Knotweed

Local street recycling banks

Lewisham also have a number of street recycling banks for materials such as paper, card, glass bottles and jars, food and drink tins, empty aerosols, plastic bottles and textiles. Special collections

If you have a piece of furniture, a fridge, cooker or similar item which is still in good condition check out the Reuse page to see if someone else can give it a home.
