Recycling in Sutton - an overview
Recycling collections from home
Sutton collects recyclables from your home on a weekly basis. Residents are provided with a free green wheeled bin, which is collected fortnightly. You can recycle paper, card, cans and plastic bottles. Residents who live in areas where wheeled bins are impractical can use clear sacks for their recyclables.

Kitchen food waste collections
Sutton are currently operating a kitchen food wste collection service to 2500 households in the borough. They provide residents with a small brown kitchen caddy and a larger caddy to transfer the waste into for collection. This is collected weekly on the same day as the refuse collection. Green garden waste collections
Sutton will collect your green garden waste once every two weeks on the same day as your green-wheeled bin recycling collection. Residents can put out up to two Council authorised 120 litre reusable plastic sacks or three 70 litre jute sacks filled with garden waste. Reusable sacks and single use sacks can be obtained from any borough library, the Civic Offices or the Council’s Denmark Road, Carshalton offices. Please note this service runs from Monday 6 April until the 18 December 2009.
You can only put the following into your sack:
twigs
sticks
leaves
grass cuttings
hedge clippings
dead plants
weeds
branches up to 20cms or 8 inches in diameter.
Note: Please do not put Japanese knotweed into your green waste sack.
Sacks must be left open and placed at the edge of your property by 6am on collection days. The reusable sacks will be returned to their point of collection. To find out more about these services please:

Local street recycling banks

Special collections
If you have a piece of furniture, a fridge, cooker or similar item which is still in good condition check out the Reuse page to see if someone else can give it a home. Alternatively the Council can collect it for you. There is a charge for collecting these items, by appointment only. For more information or to book a collection:
